Autumn 2017

During the autumn we welcomed children of all ages to Perivale Wood.

North Ealing Primary School returned with their early years classes to explore autumn using the story Dream Catcher by Audrey Osofsky. The children made their own dream catchers using natural material found in the woodland.

We also welcomed back the KS1/2 and KS3 homeschooled groups who visited Perivale Wood over the spring and summer. For our autumn sessions we explored fungi and how the woodland has changed in the autumn, how the animals living in the reserve survive the winter and what we can do to help them. With the older children we also dissected owl pellets and learnt about the pigments in autumn leaves by doing some chromatography.

October saw the relaunch of our Mini Rangers sessions. These sessions are for preschool children aged 3-5 and are held weekly during term time. The group have had a wonderful time learning about the woodland environment and exploring it in different ways. We are looking forward to restarting Mini Rangers after February half term.

Bookings for school and group sessions in 2018 are being taken and we would advise booking early to avoid disappointment.
