Outdoor learning at Perivale Wood

We offer engaging, hands-on education sessions for schools and home-school groups.

Perivale Wood, a hidden gem in Ealing, West London, is the perfect outdoor classroom. This 18-acre private nature reserve is home to ancient oak woodland, colourful wildflower meadows, and thriving wetland habitats—an inspiring place for young people to discover the natural world.

Our school sessions are carefully designed to support the National Curriculum and relevant exam board specifications, combining academic learning with the benefits of outdoor education. Activities encourage curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving, while helping pupils build a deeper connection with nature.

Because Perivale Wood is privately managed by the Selborne Society, visits are available by booking only. The site is fully enclosed, providing a safe and secure environment for groups of children to explore, learn, and play.

We are easily reached by public transport—just a short walk from Perivale Station (Central line) and served by several bus routes.

During your visit, most of the day will be spent exploring the reserve, supported by experienced leaders. Groups also have access to the Bluebell Centre, which offers toilets, a boot room, and an indoor classroom space for activities, discussions, or shelter in wet weather.

Why choose Perivale Wood for your group?

  • Bring classroom topics to life with real-world experiences.

  • Support wellbeing through time spent in nature.

  • Provide safe, structured outdoor learning in a unique setting.

  • Inspire future environmental awareness and stewardship.
